We are both happily settled in our new home in the IMC, side by side. Mommy and Daddy each visited us today to check out our new space. The occupational therapist visited us too and said we did great with our exercises today. Mommy also went to an infant massage class. She learned how to touch us to make us feel comforted and safe without overstimulating us. She learned that our skin is made out of the same material as our brain, and by touching us, she and Daddy can promote our brain development. Our skin is still very sensitive, so the best touching is just laying hands gently on us and not doing anything too quickly. Our feet are extra sensitive since they have to prick our heels so often to take blood, so the teacher said Mommy and Daddy should work to make sure that they touch our feet in a positive way so that we aren't scared to have people touch them.
The nurses "dressed" us up today and gave us each cute pink bows on our heads. Here I am modeling my hairdo. Mommy said when she was a baby Grandma used to scotch tape bows to her head to make sure everyone knew she was a girl. Like Mommy like daughters!
My food was increased but the space between stayed the same. Riley's food was also increased, but she is now eating over an hour and half, with an hour and a half of no food. This must have made her extra hungry for her first try at bottle feeding! Daddy got a chance to give her 5ccs from a bottle this evening. He got to burp her too. He had a big job. He has to make sure Riley remembers to keep breathing, that she doesn't breathe too fast and that she stays awake. She did a great job! She is also being weened off her oxygen and is doing very well.
Love your bows! You both look like your Mommy and it seems you might have inherited her hair as well! Enjoy your new digs! Love, Grandma
